Clouds loomed over Dunkin’ Park in Hartford, Connecticut, as several hundred fans shuffled through the gates just before the game’s 1:10 PM start time. The seats were nearly half full by gametime, with those in attendance enjoying a slight breeze and high of 77. In other words, it was a great day for baseball.
As June comes to an end, we stand just over a month away from one of the most exciting moments of a major league baseball season: the trade deadline. In a year that's seen the development of an uber-competitive National League and a wide-open American League, there will undoubtedly be a flurry of moves on the trade market come August 3.
During the 2025 season, I put together a list of the “Five Slowest Active Base Runners to Steal a Base”. We’re deep into the offseason now, which means it’s the perfect time for another addition to the slow baserunner collection!
This time, the list will be extended to all players in the Statcast Era. Nothing beats reminiscing about which players clogged up the basepath for your favorite team. As I said in the first edition, it’s always fun to discuss unique baseball tidbits.
